Our full rewrite of the entire Geek Squad UK website enables customers to clearly understand what the brand stands for and what it does - Jonathan Weinberg

Jonathan gave the Geek Squad UK website a total editorial overhaul ahead of a summer 2010 relaunch, working closely with the design team to bring out the personality of the brand and simplify its service and product messaging.

The new site was then launched in the summer with a renewed messaging focus on the company’s Agents and simplified details about the services being offered and the ways in which customers can obtain them.

The existing Geek Zone section was also transformed to take in a daily news feed of technology and gaming stories, written by Ten14, along with regular How To, Explained and Coming Soon features.

By creating content about the services that was easier to understand, Ten14’s re-write now allows potential customers to see at a glance what their technology problem is, why they need help and how they can call upon assistance.

Bringing to life the personality of its Agents both in the field, instore and over the phone, was also a key element identified by Ten14 to build interest and trust between consumer and the brand.

* If you would like Ten14 Media to rewrite your website, either in full or partially, please Contact Us with details.

Ten14 runs the UK press office for Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling, handling media liaison and talent tours while providing content for its website and partners. Our coverage has helped gain record ratings.

The account is managed by Simon Rothstein, former Online Showbiz Editor for The Sun and the UK’s leading wrestling journalist.

TNA’s wrestlers have been interviewed by The Sun, Daily Star, FHM, Bizarre Magazine, Fighting Fit Magazine, Kerrang, Wales on Sunday, TalkSPORT, AOL, Yahoo, Digital Spy and many more publications and websites.

We have also handled media visits to the UK by wrestling legend ‘The Nature Boy’ Ric Flair and TNA’s top British star Desmond Wolfe.

Currently we are gearing up for TNA’s annual tour, taking place in January 2011, and visiting London, Manchester and Glasgow.

We handle various content projects including articles, social media and video script production. We have spent time in-house advising on content strategy for customer-facing words and product messaging.

Having trained up its internal copywriters, Ten14 now assists with writing articles for internal use to educate staff as well as pieces for the main Carphone Warehouse website.

We also advise on marketing material, test phones to identify the key points of reference for customer editorial and write each of the video scripts for the product review films, now used on www.carphonewarehouse.com

We also look after the content on the company’s BeGadgets page, found on the Bebo social network, designed to engage a younger audience with technology.

Hanging out with Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens, we were the envy of many a teenager.

Thankfully there was no need to don a cheerleader outfit when Disney asked us to represent their gaming arm at the High School Musical 3 press junket in London.

We didn’t even have to put on basketball shorts either, which was probably a good thing with JW’s skinny legs

Participating in a series of one-to-one and roundtable interviews with the hit film’s main stars, we were able to create credible Q&A transcripts that could be used for mainstream PR to attract coverage on blogs, gaming pages and fan sites.

Not only did this maximise the limited time available to Disney Interactive Studios for press interviews, it extended the reach of their campaign into areas they otherwise would not have been able to cover. It took their brand to important and influential niches.

We even got Zac Efron’s Xbox 360 gamertag. And JW was very excited. He might even have screamed. Like a little girl.

Since January 2008, we have been retained as a consultant for Hill and Knowlton, one of the UK’s leading PR and communications agencies.

Working on a non-exclusive basis, Jonathan has helped media train staff, advised on the impact of potential projects in the press and developed ideas for coverage.

Client accounts we have assisted with include Play.com, Cineworld, Championship Manager, Robinsons, Comet, Duracell, London Eye and Intel.

Ben Padfield, Head of the Consumer Division, is the nice man behind the very nice words above.

As well as giving his opinion on the latest blockbusters, JW recently spent a week blogging about the new Professor Layton and Pandora’s Box title.

He even roped his girlfriend in to show how gaming is not just for blokes. She was actually better at it too, but sshhh, no-one needs to know that.

When we needed content for our website, Jonathan and his team were a natural choice. Their pieces get our readers thinking and commenting, which results in the community spirit we strive for.

Ten14 Media has been providing a successful daily football news feed for the hit computer game’s official website since August 2008.

A key part of the site’s redesign, it enables fans to interact daily with the brand

Rather than simply rehash the newspaper back pages, we created a unique CM style and tone that as Roy Meredith, General Manager for Championship Manager, says above, encourages users to make their feelings known about the issues important to them.

With Jonathan Weinberg mainly taking the lone striker role on the writing front, Lee Coan provides plenty of support from midfield scoring plenty of wonder strikes with his own humorous take on the lower leagues. Lee is a Watford fan for his sins so writing about his woes is cheaper than seeing a psychiatrist.

As well as commentary on the current state of the UK’s beautiful game, the feed also features fun Top 10s, quizzes and pictures from the Press Association, marking Championship Manager out as the No1 community portal for supporters.

Working to the John Brown publishing group, Jonathan has been a regular columnist for Orange News, the company’s internal magazine.

He has also written a host of news stories and features for the network’s Business Matters and Exchange publications.

JW was one of the first journalists in the UK to get his hands on the Orange mobile phone watch. He even made a video about it for The Sun.

It was like Knight Rider – the classic version not the new remake. But without Michael Knight, K.I.T.T. and Devon.
